Questions
Questions patients ask
Does Dr. Vasileff treat sports injuries?+
Yes. Dr. Vasileff completed fellowship training in sports medicine and hip preservation at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, and treats athletic injuries, tendinopathy, bursitis, and hip and leg injuries at every level of activity, from recreational to competitive.
Do I need a referral to see Dr. Vasileff?+
Not always. Many patients are referred by another physician, which is common in sports medicine and hip preservation care, but self-referred patients are also seen. Referral requirements depend on your insurance plan, so check with your insurer before scheduling.
What should I bring to my first appointment?+
Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and any imaging or records related to your injury. If another physician referred you, bring their referral note and any test results they have already ordered.
Will I need surgery for my injury?+
Most sports medicine injuries are treated without surgery first. Dr. Vasileff's approach starts with the option that fits the injury and is least invasive, and surgery is discussed only when non-surgical treatment has not resolved the problem.
What is arthroscopy, and does Dr. Vasileff perform it?+
Yes. Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure that uses a small camera inserted through a small incision to look inside and treat a joint. Dr. Vasileff performs arthroscopy for hip and other joint injuries when surgery is the right next step.
What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy?+
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is an injection made from a concentrated portion of your own blood, used to support healing in tendons and joints. Dr. Vasileff offers PRP as one option for musculoskeletal pain and tendinopathy.
Is Dr. Vasileff accepting new patients?+
Yes. Accepting new patients, Dr. Vasileff's practice sees those referred by another physician as well as those scheduling on their own.
